Existing small molecule inhibitors must enter the cells to inhibit TGFβ1 activity by interacting with receptor molecules, which can result in low specificity due to their interaction with various receptors within the cell. In contrast PG-002 binds to TGFβ1 extracellularly, providing higher specificity for neutralizing TGFβ1.
